Is Drinking a Guiness Like Eating 10 Slices of Bread?
Happy St. Patrick’s Day 🍀 Every year, we hear the same ole myth, so let’s clear something up real quick…Guinness is not “like drinking 10 slices of bread.” That has been floating around forever. The truth is, it’s actually relatively moderate, especially compared to a lot of beers and mixed drinks people are throwing back today. Now…is it a health drink? No. But here’s what most people don’t realize… Guinness is made from simple ingredients – barley, hops, yeast, and it contains plant compounds like polyphenols, has a lower alcohol content than many options, and is easier on digestion than a lot of sugary cocktails. So if you’re going to have a drink today, there are definitely worse choices. Bottom line, no alcohol is “healthy,” but some options are more balanced than others.
