General Mills Halts Synthetic Dye Use!

General Mills removing synthetic dyes from their products is definitely a step in the right direction. No argument there. But it also raises a pretty simple question… If these dyes weren’t necessary for nutrition, brain development, digestion, or immune function in the first place… why were they added to foods marketed to kids? The reality is a lot of modern processed foods were designed for appearance and shelf appeal, not for health. Bright colors. Cartoon mascots. Ingredients engineered in a lab. They sell boxes. But they don’t necessarily support the body. Taking the artificial dyes out is progress. But the bigger conversation is helping people move closer to real food, better ingredients, and less processing overall. Because at the end of the day, breakfast probably shouldn’t glow in the dark.
