Autism Is Rising. And We’re Asking the Wrong Questions…

When it comes to the rise in autism, everyone wants a clean answer. Something simple. Something you can point to and say “that’s the cause.” But the truth is, complex problems don’t come from one place, and they’re not solved by looking at one piece of the puzzle. What we’re seeing right now should be forcing a bigger conversation. Not a louder one, not a more emotional one, a smarter one. Because when patterns shift this fast, it’s not about picking sides between genetics vs environment. It’s about understanding how systems are interacting, and more importantly, what’s changed around us in a relatively short period of time. That’s where real answers start to live. If we keep narrowing the lens, we keep missing the point. And when it comes to kids, that’s not something we can afford to do. The goal isn’t to argue. It’s to ask better questions.
