Carnivore Diet: Context Over Chaos
There’s a lot of chatter online about the carnivore diet right now. Opponents say it’s dangerous. That it will wreck your heart, your gut, your long-term health.
But here’s the interesting part: Certain populations, specifically the Inuit, historically had extremely low rates of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity while eating a predominantly animal-based diet. And those numbers changed dramatically once a modern Western diet was introduced.
Most debates online are framed as extremes. “All meat is bad.” “Plants are toxic.” “Fiber is mandatory.” “Cholesterol is deadly.” “THIS is the diet we should all be eating.” But biology is rarely that simple. There is no “one-size-fits-all” to this stuff and context matters. For some people, a short-term elimination approach can calm inflammation and reset the system. For others, long-term restriction may not be the right strategy.
Nutrition is not a belief system. It’s a clinical tool.
The real conversation isn’t whether carnivore is “good” or “bad.” It’s who it’s appropriate for, how long, and under what supervision.
