Did You Know? 3 Tips To Boost Your Immune System

3 Tips to Boost Immune Function

A strong immune system has been trending since March of 2020, as the virus rolled into mainstream America. We knew little about it, to learn meant we needed time, a time where we were all left not knowing what to do.

What we did know, is what’s worked before on virus’ throughout time. Social distancing, quarantine, hand washing, and sanitizing we adopted early and have also gone mainstream. All over the news were press conferences, politicians, and a few doctors weighing in. I heard very little about how to support our own immune function. It’s the star of our show, and we didn’t seem to be paying attention.

Let’s pay the immune system the respect it deserves. Here are 3 ways to boost your immune system naturally.

  1. Hydrate – The body needs to flush things out, this is critical. Digestion and circulation require it. Rough estimate is about 100 oz of water (not coffee, tea juice, or cola) per day.
  2. Fruits & Veggies – All of your immune-boosting micronutrients and those are often found in fruits and veggies.
    • Berries are best – Blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries
    • Cruciferous Veggies – Cabbage, broccoli, and Brussel sprouts

Avoid sugar as much as possible, this REALLY beats our immune system down.

  1. Zinc & Selenium
    • Zinc is used in over 300 enzyme functions. Enzymes ARE your IMMUNE SYSTEM, period. Zinc-rich foods are:
      • #1 is Red Meat
      • Shell Fish
      • Legumes
      • Nuts/Seeds
      • Dark Chocolate
    • Selenium is used to fight off infection. Selenium rich foods are:
      • #1 Brazil Nuts
      • Tuna – most fish is a good source
      • Eggs
      • Brown Rice
      • Ham

Here’s where things get awesome. Supporting your immune system like this on a daily basis will have you sitting pretty in front of COVID-19, as well as many other viruses, infections, and disease!
